The Bank was Charlie Chaplin’s tenth film for Essanay Films.

Released in 1915, is a departure from the tramp character, as Charlie Chaplin plays a janitor at a bank. Edna Purveyance plays the secretary who is in love with Charlie and dreams she is in love with him. Filmed at the Majestic study of Los Angeles.

Silence There seems no evidence that this film was received differently than most of Chaplin’s early work, but today this film is often regarded as one of its most exciting efforts.
