Toots n Cat “is an animated cartoon from 1942 of a reel and is the sixth of Tom and Jerry short. Was produced in Technicolor and released on May 30, 1942 by Metro-Goldwyn Mayer and reissued in 1957. It was animated by Pete Burness, George Gordon Jack Zander, Irven Spence, Bill Littlejohn, and uncredited, Cecil Surry.
The cartoon opens with Tom Jerry watching while running around an empty tank. Jerry tries to escape from the cup, but Tom pushes him back in. Then the doorbell rings and Mammy Two Shoes is going to answer it. Tom then put the flowers back into the bowl, grabs Jerry, and hides in a cupboard under the letter “M” for mouse.
Tom now has to hide under the box as Mammy coming toward him, and she opens the door for a cute female cat to care temporarily. Mammy she sits on the couch like Tom sees her and falls in love instantly. The cat is beaten by the arrow of Cupid and dresses by smoothing his hair, curly whiskers and tail, and putting hair gel. Problems of the Dog are a cartoon from 1942 of a reel and are the fifth of Tom and Jerry short. Was produced in Technicolor, released in theaters on April 18, 1942 by Metro-Goldwyn Mayer and reissued for the re-launch in 1952. It was inspired by George Gordon Irven Spence Jack Zander and non-accredited, Cecil and Bill Littlejohn Surry.
Jerry runs through a cloth, not going anywhere. As Jerry’s career, Tom is pulling the fabric as a treadmill. Tom reaches the end of the fabric and Jerry cross to the other side of the table as Tom gives chase. Jerry tries to stop at the end of the table, but Tom’s open mouth is waiting! Although it can not stop, Jerry uses one of the cat’s whiskers with the same swing back, and then escapes into his trap. Tom then called the wall to get out of Jerry, and wait patiently as Jerry tiptoe through an electrical outlet on the other side of the wall. Before you can steal a safer place is a piece of cheese in a mousetrap and sustains it with Tom’s tail to fall. When the cat jumps the queue several times is lost, the mouse, simply does the same job, and then runs for his life as Tom tail sharp cries of pain.
Fraidy Cat is a 1942 animated cartoon of a reel is the fourth in Tom and Jerry short, produced by Fred Quimby for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. It was released in theaters on January 17, 1942 and reissued in 1952 to re-release.
The cartoon begins with Tom listening to the “Witching Hour” on radio, and was frightened by the horror story that is told. Halfway into the story, drama (creeps, chills ice in the spine, heart leaping in her throat) started going to Tom. At the end all shady, Tom flees and hides in a pot as a cry mispronounced. Upon hearing the voice saying “And that, my dear children, concludes witching hour tonight,” Tom sighs with relief, and the question was asked, “And I believe in ghosts … right?” Swallowing, Tom nods as if to say, “Yes, I do.”
The night before Christmas is an animated cartoon from 1941 of a reel is the third of Tom and Jerry short directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, produced by Fred Quimby and encouraged by Jack Zander, George Gordon, Irven Spence and Billie Littlejohn. As was the practice in original songs of animated shorts for MGM at the time, only Hanna and Barbera are credited. He was nominated for the 1941 Academy Award for Best Short Film: Cartoons. It was released in theaters on December 6, 1941 by Metro-Goldwyn Mayer.
In a large house on Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve, nothing moved, not even a mouse … or so it seems at first. Jerry out of his hole to avoid a mousetrap with Christmas themes (and baited with a piece of cheese wrapped in a red ribbon) placed in its hole. Jerry quickly moves to Christmas, hopping merrily round the tree, licking the candy canes, and jumping on a stuffed lion that squeaked. Jerry still jumping in the stuffed animal, but it bounces too much and falls into what he thinks is another soft toy. Jerry jumps up and down the gray skin, without realizing that what is jumping on is, in fact, Tom, it has attracted. Tom growls and just before he can eat Jerry, thinking quickly grabs the mouse close “Do not open until Christmas” tag and immediately put into the mouth of Tom. The Midnight Snack is a 1941 animated cartoon of a reel and is the second Tom and Jerry short, produced in Technicolor and released on July 19, 1941 by Metro-Goldwyn Mayer and re-released in 1957 as a re-edited. Produced by Fred Quimby and directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, with musical supervision by Scott Bradley. This cartoon featured the second appearance of Tom and Jerry, and was the first in which the characters were named. The first cartoon, Puss Gets the Boot had a cat named Jasper and a mouse called Jinx. The Midnight Snack also has the black maid Mammy Two Shoes, Lillian Randolph’s voice, and usually ends in destruction and Tom to be expelled from the house.
Puss Gets the Boot is a caricature of a reel of animation and the first Tom and Jerry short, although not considered as such in the cartoon. It was released on February 10, 1940 by Metro-Goldwyn Mayer. It was produced by Rudolf Ising (who had virtually nothing to do with all production) and directed by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, his first collaboration that lasted over half a century, with musical supervision by Scott Bradley. The cartoon was animated by Carlos Urbano, Tony Pabian, Jack Zander, Peter Burness and Bob Allen.
The only screen credit on this film was “a Rudolf Ising production.” The film is characterized by the first appearances of characters that would later be christened Tom and Jerry and it would appear in more than 110 cartoons and short films, seven of which won the Oscar for Best Short Film: Cartoons. As such, Puss Gets the Boot gave the animated duo their first Oscar nomination, although short lost another Rudolf Ising MGM cartoon, The Milky Way. It is one of only two Hanna-Barbera programs (with spin-off Droopy, Master Detective) to air on Fox and Cartoon Network’s Tickle U The series is about the adventures of the cat Tom and mouse Jerry in his childhood and his friends and Dripple Droopy and Spike and Tyke.
The series is somewhat similar to the “older” version of the classic 114 plays, in part similar to that produced by the creators of Tom and Jerry Joseph Barbera and William Hanna. In terms of level of violence, are much closer to the classic animated television earlier adaptations, like Tom and Jerry Comedy Show, although somewhat softer than the original series Hanna and Barbera.
